Syracuse, NY's first-ever Financial Empowerment Summit was to take place on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Crowne Plaza Syracuse Downtown, and the plan was to pivot to the OnCenter on Saturday, April 10th. Due to the ongoing pandemic and vaccination rollout, however, the summit will now premiere virtually in a series of pre-recorded webinars.
This conference will provide financial literacy education training to low income and middle class individuals. There are four tracks, 12 Affinity Groups, 90 Panelists and Speakers covering 30 sessions.
The tracks include Financial Literacy, Professional Development, Entrepreneurship, and Institutional. Topics include budgeting, credit, debt management, student loans, identity theft and much more! The audience comprises Adult Learners, including College Students and Millennials, Seniors, Entrepreneurs, and New Americans.
Anticipated outcomes include:
1. Connecting the working poor to pre-existing community resources
2. Teaching middle class professionals the principle concept of net worth
3. Creating a nationally replicable financial education conference model that other cities can emulate from Syracuse, NY
